Privacy & Analytics
How ComputeFuturesData.com handles information when you visit the site or email us. Privacy questions: privacy@
Visiting the site
The site is delivered through hosting and network providers, including Cloudflare. To deliver and protect its pages, they process technical request information such as your IP address, browser and device details, the page requested and the referring page. This happens on every visit, whether or not you allow analytics. How long they keep it depends on their own services and settings.
Our web server also keeps access logs to understand page demand, identify errors and monitor automated traffic. They include request time, IP address, browser information, page path, response status, response size and timing, and the referring site’s origin. Where Cloudflare supplies it, the logs also contain IP-based location estimates: country, continent, city, region and region code, latitude and longitude, postal and metropolitan-area codes, and time zone. These estimates describe an IP location, not your device’s precise location. We do not deliberately log URL query strings, cookies, authorization headers or request bodies. We keep recent access logs for roughly two weeks. These server logs do not set cookies or identify visitor sessions.
Delivery and security features of these providers can add their own cookies or scripts. Those are separate from the site’s own code, which this page describes.
Emailing us
The site has no accounts, forms or comments. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, and use them to deal with your message. Please do not send sensitive information we do not need.
Optional analytics
If you choose Allow analytics, we use Google Analytics 4, a Google service, to understand how the site is used and to improve it. It processes information such as the pages you view, how you arrived (referral information), visit and session activity, browser and device information, approximate location and cookie identifiers. Your browser sends this information to Google directly, so Google also receives your IP address.
The page views our code sends use page addresses without query strings or fragments, shorten the address of another referring site to its domain, and include no names, email addresses or text you type. Our code sends one page view per page you open and no other events. It keeps Google signals and advertising personalization off, and the site shows no advertising. Cookie identifiers and IP addresses can still relate to you.
Depending on the analytics property’s settings, Google’s tag can also record some activity by itself, such as scrolling or clicks on links to other sites. That automatic collection is controlled by Google’s tag and property settings rather than by the steps above. It too happens only after you allow analytics.
How Google uses information from sites that use its services
Your choice
Google Analytics does not load, and nothing is sent to Google for analytics, until you choose Allow analytics. Choosing Decline keeps it off and does not limit what you can read. Without JavaScript, analytics never loads.
You can change your choice at any time with Analytics settings at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw, the site stops its Google Analytics tag and deletes the Google Analytics cookies it can reach. This does not erase information already sent to Google.
We remember your choice in your browser for 180 days and then ask again. If your browser does not let the site store it, your choice applies only to the page you are on.
Cookies and browser storage
The site’s own code uses the items below. The Google Analytics cookies are set only after you allow analytics.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Cookie (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes browsers for Google Analytics | Google’s documented default: 2 years; browsers may shorten it |
_ga_RYRNB0SDPF | Cookie (Google Analytics) | Keeps Google Analytics session state | Google’s documented default: 2 years; browsers may shorten it |
cfd-analytics-consent | Local storage (this site) | Remembers whether you allowed or declined analytics | 180 days |
cfd-analytics-notice | Session storage (this site) | Shows a confirmation after you change your choice | Removed when read |
Durations for the Google Analytics cookies are Google’s documented defaults; the analytics property’s settings and your browser’s limits can change them. You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings.
