This chronology starts with selected GPU rental benchmark announcements in 2025, followed by CME and ICE futures plans and regulatory milestones in 2026: a CFTC request for comment, an extended CFTC review of the NYMEX contracts, a reported postponement of the planned CME launch, and an ICE Futures U.S. reference-data notice that set no listing date. Nothing in this chronology is a launch, an approval or a trade.

    Silicon Data announces a daily H100 rental index

    Silicon Data announced its daily H100 Rental Index (Bloomberg ticker SDH100RT), a benchmark of rental prices for NVIDIA H100 GPUs.

    What it was not: A benchmark provider’s announcement, shown as background. It is not a futures listing. The release calls the index the world’s first daily GPU rental benchmark; that is the provider’s description, not this site’s finding.

    CME announces H100 and B200 compute futures with an October 5 target date

    CME Group announced H100 and B200 compute futures, with trading planned to start on October 5, 2026, pending regulatory review. NYMEX’s submission of the two contracts to the CFTC (26-370) is dated the same day.

    What it was not: October 5 was a planned date, not a confirmed launch or trade. A September 28 CME notice later reported the launch postponed.

    ICE Futures U.S. said Ornn Compute Price Index data, including hypothetical daily settlement prices, would be made available on its trading platform from Monday, October 5, 2026. It said HPR and BKL would be listed pending completion of the CFTC’s request-for-comment period, and that no listing date or timeline had been set.

    What it was not: Reference data and hypothetical settlement prices are not trading. The notice announced a plan; it does not show data delivery, a listing or any trade.

The advisory’s web page shows a Notice Date of September 25, 2026; that is a page label, and no revision time of the PDF itself is confirmed, so this evidence is not placed on a date in the chronology.
